Before You Travel

What to bring for your surgery trip

A short, practical packing list for your trip to Istanbul. Keep it simple — anything you forget is easy to buy here, and your coordinator can help once you arrive.

Documents & essentials

  • A valid passport — plus an e-visa if your nationality requires one (most do not)
  • A copy of your medical history and any ongoing health conditions
  • Any recent test results or imaging you already have (helpful, not required)
  • Your travel and private health-insurance details, if you have them

Medication & health

  • Enough of your regular prescription medicines for the whole trip, in their original packaging
  • A written list of your medicines, doses and any allergies
  • Glasses or contact-lens supplies, if you use them
  • Follow the personalised pre-op instructions Dr. Erdal gives you, including anything to pause beforehand

Recovery-friendly clothing

  • Loose, front-opening tops (button or zip) — easy to wear without raising your arms
  • Slip-on shoes you don't have to bend down to fasten
  • A comfortable, loose outfit for your flight home
  • Soft layers — Istanbul's weather changes with the season

Practical & comfort items

  • Phone, charger and a European plug adapter (Type C/F, 220 V)
  • A little local cash for small extras — cards are widely accepted
  • A neck pillow and something to pass the time while you rest
  • Lip balm, moisturiser and your usual basic toiletries

Good news: your compression garment, post-op medicines and aftercare items are included — no need to pack those. A companion is welcome to travel with you, and a familiar face makes recovery easier.
